AQUI BAR & KITCHENS

  • Description

Situated in the heart of Fort Lauderdale’s Flagler Village, a vibrant cultural hub, AQUI Bar & Kitchens is a standout in the region’s urban fabric that includes subtropical modernism, blending design innovation with neighborhood authenticity.

Meticulously situated amid a lush landscape of Florida indigenous plants, AQUI celebrates its surrounding context through a masterful interplay of indoor and outdoor elements. The bar reimagines an indoor-outdoor experience of connectivity, employing large folding sliding doors on three sides, encouraging natural ventilation, enhancing natural lighting and fostering an engaging visual connection with the surrounding pedestrian milieu.

Punctuating on the subtropical ambiance, the zig-zagged back wall of the bar features a large-scale photograph of the Everglades by esteemed photographer Peter Nolan. Intricately woven within AQUI’s design narrative is an innovative lighting strategy. A minimalist internal scheme subtly recedes, focusing attention on the radiant heart of the space – the bar which is illuminated in pink, a color of joy and inspiration, outfitted with a high-tech, energy-efficient LED system. The long bar’s dynamic rhythmic shape encourages conversations among AQUI’s clientele.

Within the bathroom interiors, the bold and unconventional tiles marry with interactive, water-conserving fixtures, punctuating the space with elements of vivid colors and surprise.

AQUI delivers an experience that reverberates with the pulse of Flagler Village, while establishing itself as an architectural gem of subtropical modernism.

With AQUI, GLAVOVIC STUDIO reaffirms its commitment to crafting spaces that are not only architecturally distinctive but also steeped in the contexts of their locale. Offering a captivating blend of urbanism, rotating art installations and natural elements, AQUI is more than a bar – it’s a testament to design’s transformative power in shaping community experiences and cultural narratives.

Radiating an audacious charm along Third Avenue, the bar emerges with its daring use of vibrant pink disrupting the monotone cityscape, drawing in the gaze of both pedestrian and motorists with its magnetic allure.

The project emphasizes spatial continuity, celebrating the natural environment while augmenting the urban setting.
