YOUNG AT ART MUSEUM

  • Description

    Young at Art Cut Sheet

Young at Art | Museum and Broward County Library empowers architecture, interactive artworks and a transformational environment in a regional and national model. This LEED Gold certified project was made possible through the partnership of Young at Art, a leading not-for-profit children’s art museum, in partnership with the Broward County Libraries Division. The Architecture is legible and through this demonstrates the mission of creativity and sustainability. Structural, mechanical and infrastructural and other systems are exposed throughout the building in a visually appealing way to enhance the space while offering opportunities to learn about the green building practices employed. Over 150 artists were curated into the exhibitions including outdoor public art work “I Love You”  by  Roberto Behar & Rosario Marquardt. The main museum includes four major exhibition areas in addition to an Art Institute with art studios for 2D visual arts, ceramics, 3D graphics and photography, all aimed at a young audience. The library comprises a teen center, a café, conference areas and a reading room. The design concept is inspired by the child’s experience of this particular place in South Florida, of making connections inside and outside and takes careful consideration of the relationship of space to the child in relation to the production of ideas. Photography by Robin Hill and AECOM.
